¨Let´s go on a holiday….for longer than a week……where is somewhere that we have both always wanted to go..?….NEW ZEALAND!!!!!

Thats pretty much how the decision was made, with us both having an urge to go away on a holiday, but not just for a short break like we have done previously, (although there is certainly nothing wrong with the wonderful times we have had hiking and exploring in nearby Madeira.)

So who are we? Our names are Dani and Andrea and we have both lived on the Canary Island of Lanzarote for about a decade, and although the island is a wonderful place to live, the idea of driving in a car for over an hour without coming to the ocean and having to turn around again held great appeal. New Zealand is a country that both of us have held as a ´if I could go anywhere in the world´destination, and this year, we have decided not to put off that dream any longer. The thought of two islands brimming with diverse landscapes of mountains, forests, glaciers, volcanoes and beaches is so exciting to us both I am now wondering if there is going to be enough time to see everything! So now armed with books and maps from Amazon and we have earmarked several places that we definitely want to see whilst we are there, but a lot of it is going to be played by ear as once we are there, we are bound to notice places we have not read about, or have attractions and areas advised to us by others.

We have a couple of friends who have visited the country twice and so we have managed to get some tips off them, although the sound of getting bitten to buggery by Sandflies in the South island sounds a bit nasty, but, so be it.

So we are gradually getting things together as we leave in six days………..I have checked the various tickets a million times (I am known for my exaggeration) just to make sure that I have booked the right month and day, but everything seems to be in order

We have booked accommodation in Auckland for three nights so we can get over jet lag and sort out hiring a car, possibly with a company that also provides camping equipment with the vehicle.
